Drivers are still complaining. Gas prices have dropped again in Winnipeg, as motorists at Deacon's Corner were paying 86 cents a litre yesterday. That's a gap of 33 cents a litre for drivers in Dryden and Kenora.

They're paying $1.19 a litre in these cities, a drop of 20 cents from the summer, but not enough for some consumers. They note the price of oil has recently dropped by 40 per cent, from just over $102 a barrel to about $60.

Before Christmas, Ontario Energy Minister Greg Rickford, who is also the member of provincial parliament for Kenora-Rainy River, confirmed investigators with the federal Competition Bureau would be looking into allegations of collusion among retailers in the Kenora area. The Tory government at Queen's Park campaigned on a pledge to reduce the price of gas by 10 cents a litre. In July, it was about $1.39 a litre in the district.
